Friday was gorgeous and warm.  Lex even got to play with his water table for a while.

On Sunday morning we met Becky and Dayn at Gravy for breakfast (mmmm…oatmeal brulee!)

After breakfast we played at OMSI for a while (since it was $2 admission day).

There was a full T-rex skeleton on display, which was cool.

Lex’s favorite part at OMSI was typing on various computer keyboards (which he could have done at home).  I’m not saying he’s his father’s son or anything, but…

I started reciting the old nursery rhyme, “Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home.”  But then I stopped as I remembered the rest: “Your house is on fire and your children are gone.”  What kind of thing is that to teach your young child?  What’s wrong with nursery rhymes anyway? Why do they all have to be about babies falling out of treetops, bridges collapsing, and houses burning?

We’ve had some awesome springlike weather lately.  Tim brought out the camera during one of those sunny afternoons to take some of these great photos of Lex:

We recently decided to move Kiwi’s memorial stone from the hillside behind our house to our fenced backyard.  I wanted to plant flowers around it and bring her stone a little closer to home.  Lex still talks about her, and we miss her every day.

You might have noticed Lex’s latest head wound in the pictures above.  A few days ago he totally face-planted into the front door.  He cried when it happened, but now it doesn’t phase him.

Realizing that Bear is Lex’s favorite companion, I decided to order an identical replacement bear recently just in case this one ever gets lost.  But what I didn’t realize is how used and abused Mr. Bear already is.  The replacement arrived a few days ago, so Tim and I slipped in the substitution one day just to see what Lex’s reaction would be.  He grabbed the bear without looking, and then all of a sudden dropped it like a hot potato with a horrified look on his face.  In order to cover our tracks we immediately mumbled something about “This is Brother Bear” and then quickly switched back to the original before any tears were shed.  So hopefully we’ll hold on to the original, because apparently there’s no replacing Bear!

The sun continues to shine and we’re loving every minute of it.  We plan on hitting another park this afternoon.  And this morning Lex and I drove over to north Portland to check out a new coffee shop which was having a special music time for kids.  We also drove by our old house just for fun…looks the same!

Yesterday Lex and I went to a chocolate tasting at Jenkins Estates in preparation for Valentine’s Day.  There were tons of different vendors and we sampled our way through two buildings.  It was great!  (Lex still has some residual chocolate on his face in the picture below)

And finally, I just wanted to share my son’s special talent with the world.  Not all of us can do this!
