Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden (and graduation)
Here’s some pictures from when my dad, my aunt, and my grandma stayed with us. The flowers in Portland are gorgeous right now (they might be the only ones who like all this rain!), so we took everyone for a walk around Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden.

And here’s some boring shots of just scenery (but so pretty!)

Last Monday my cousin Robby graduated from Reed College. We all joined him that morning for a family breakfast before attending the ceremony.

What a cute boy I have…

Dozer Day
Yesterday my dad arrived in town, just in time to enjoy the beautiful (and rare!) sunny 75-degree day. We walked over to Bethany’s Table and had a wonderful family dinner outside.
Then this morning we took Grandpa to Dozer Day, an annual event at a quarry in Vancouver, WA. Here’s a quote from their website: ”Dozer Day is like going to a fair, only our rides are real heavy construction equipment. Kids hop in the driver’s seat and actually drive big yellow dozers, dump trucks and other heavy equipment with a professional operator at their side.” The event was busy and the lines were long, but Lex had a good time riding on an excavator and a roller. Then we were taken back to the parking lot on a huge articulated hauler.

Oh the cuteness
Just have to share these adorable photos from our zoo trip today. Lex and his friend Juliette are two peas in a pod…

Family visit
I had a terrific Mother’s day this year. Tim’s parents were here visiting and we all went to the Oregon zoo for an extravagant brunch. Then later in the day we joined the Wilberding family (and Lex’s aunt Wendy) at Dayn’s mom’s house for a fun fiesta-themed taco bar.

Lex was really happy to be with his grandparents again. He and Grandpa spent a lot of time together playing the game “Angry Birds” on the iPad.

And Grandma accompanied us to Lex’s gymnastics class on Tuesday morning.

It was a sad goodbye on Thursday afternoon as we watched the Weavers head back to Boise with their standard U-haul trailer full of newly-acquired auction furniture.

Then yesterday our neighbor Teagan came over to play. It was actually pretty funny. We didn’t invite her…she just came right in when I answered the door and started playing with Lex in the front room. But luckily we didn’t have any plans and she was a nice distraction for him. I brought out some foam soap and the kids had a ball playing with it outside at the water table.

Random stuff
We’ve had a lot of fun recently going on bike rides with our new bike trailer. (The picture below is a friend’s trailer that we borrowed, but ours is similar.) Lex and I biked to our Wednesday playgroup this week, and Tim rode his bike to work and back yesterday. I’ve decided that living on a hilly street is inconvenient when coming home sweaty and tired and pulling an extra 35 lbs behind you.

Over Easter weekend I played Easter bunny and hid plastic eggs around our backyard for Lex to find.

An Easter morning bubble bath. We didn’t go to church that day because Lex had a bad cough, but we did enjoy a great brunch at Marie Callender’s.

I’m happy that it’s garage sale season again. My latest score was this cute race car sleeping bag for Lex:

I’m amazed this stunt of mine didn’t end up in a visit to the ER:
