Trick or treat!
This afternoon the mall by our house offered trick or treating for kids. I figured it would be good practice for Lex before his first official outing on Halloween night.

He was a little apprehensive at first (by the way, grandma and grandpa arrived today):

But then he realized that he was being given candy, and he had a blast going from store to store.

We got tons of compliments on his monster truck costume.

We ended the night by going to Chevy’s for Lex’s free birthday meal, but I’ll post pictures from that next time.
Comments are off for this postHalloween party
Today was our play group’s annual Halloween party. This year Lex wore a monster truck costume (Grave Digger!) My son would never in a million years wear anything fluffy or with a hood (I’m currently bribing him with m&ms every morning just to get dressed), so this costume was perfect.

And yes, I dressed for the occasion as well. My festive witch hat had orange feathers on it, which I found quite fashionable.

Here’s the attempt at a group photo. Every year…pure chaos. I think there were fewer tears this time though.
he The pretzel spiders I brought as a snack turned out pretty cute:

And there were sugar cookies to decorate. It was funny though. Lex overloaded his cookie with orange frosting, but then he got frustrated when his fingers became messy every time he tried to take a bite. So I kindly offered to eat his gooey creation and gave him a plain cookie. It was a win-win, if you ask me!

My friend Theresa hosted the party at her house. Her husband goes all out with decorating their front yard each year:

I thought Lex might be disturbed by some of the spooky creatures, but he didn’t seem phased at all.

Corn maze
We do like our holiday activities in this household. So yes, we visited yet another pumpkin patch recently. But this one had a corn maze to walk through! Lex was a little apprehensive at first, but by the end he was racing ahead and telling us which way to turn.

And no visit to a farm is complete without the purchase of fresh local produce:

Another day at the pumpkin patch
Lex and I had such a great time at the pumpkin patch with our play group, we decided to go back again last Saturday. This time daddy got to experience the joy of riding the cow train:

Action shot: jumping off the hay bale

Lex’s centerfold shot (but with clothes on):

“Oink oink!”

And yes, the boy even managed to find a construction truck on the ground to play with:

Pumpkin patch
Last week our play group visited a local pumpkin patch. Of course Lex ran right over to the tractor and climbed on.

Five cuties:

King of the haystack!

Despite being almost a month early, we went ahead and gave Lex his birthday present tonight. We’ve had beautiful sunny weather lately and are hoping that he can play outside with his scooter on any more of those days that might occur this fall.

As you can see, he’s quite pleased with his present:
