We had a brief respite from the never-ending rain over the weekend, with two gorgeous days around 80 degrees.

On Saturday we joined Loretta’s family for a bbq at their house.  Lex absolutely idolizes Gabby and was thrilled to play trucks with her in the backyard.

Then on Sunday we did some much needed yard work.  All we hear from Lex these days is, “No, me do it.”  So Tim let him tackle mowing the grass.  (I’m sure the reel mower weighs more than Lex, but he gave it a good try.)

Lex seems to be completely over his sickness, while Tim and I are still only functioning at about 85%.  My nose is still congested (after two weeks!) and we have lingering coughs, but at least all fevers have disappeared.

So apparently this sickness is the gift that keeps on giving.  Just last night I came down with a fever and chills.  And my legs are aching like crazy.  Luckily Lex and Tim seem to be improving, so I was able to rest a little more this afternoon while they hung out together.

It hasn’t stopped raining in days, but that didn’t deter my son from wanting to water all the plants on the deck.

Ugh.  All three of us have been sick for about a week now.  Lex and Tim have had fevers and coughs, and I’ve had a bad cold.  Tim took Friday, Monday and today off of work, and we’ve been trading off with parenting duties as the other one collapses and tries to get better.

Lex is feeling better now and has the energy that only a two year old can.  Meanwhile his parents are just struggling to keep up.

One day I told Lex that he couldn’t go outside without shoes on.  So he grabbed the closest ones available (mine!) and headed out the door:

Last week before we all got sick, we babysat Lex’s friend Clara for the afternoon.  Lex immediately got her involved in one of his favorite activities: typing on keyboards.

Then he charmed her into pushing him around in his car (and the poor girl is half his size):

“Rain, rain, go away.”  Lex doesn’t seem to mind it, as seen in the picture below, but the rest of us are ready for some sunshine.

Tim’s parents came to visit us over Memorial day weekend.  And once again they helped us get a lot of household chores accomplished.  We managed to steam clean our carpet, mow our grass and clean out our garage while they were here (and Lex got some play dough time with Grandma).

Last Wednesday we hosted play group at our house.  Lex and Sam hung out in his car for a while.

Lex hasn’t been feeling great these past few days.  He had a fever up until today, and now he seems to have a little cough.  So our nights have been filled with many wake ups and our days with many tears.  But I’m hoping things will get back to normal soon.
