Last weekend
Lex’s final soccer class was on Saturday morning. He’s really enjoyed playing and we’ll probably pick it back up again in the fall, after we take a summer break.

On Saturday afternoon we walked over to Bethany village and had a little picnic in the grass by the fountain. The sun was out and it felt great to splash around in the water.

On Sunday we skipped church and spent the morning outside doing yard work. Lex entertained himself by coasting down the driveway on his tricycle. (Tim and I have successfully held our ground that he has to wear a helmet in order to ride his tricycle or balance bike.)

After nap time we drove downtown and played in the water at Jamison Square. It was extremely busy…we Oregonians flock to the water parks during any kind of warm weather.

Meanwhile our house is in the process of being painted. We love the new “Georgian Brick” color (SO much better than the nondescript green-gray that it was before). And the trim should be finished in a day or two.

I also have to include a picture of our little garden in the blog. A few nights ago we made a salad from our very first harvest of lettuce and spinach. It was great! (and our carrots are just now sprouting)

Summer!
Two guys mowing:

Hallelujah! Summer seems to have FINALLY arrived. Lex and I are spending most of our time outside these days. We’ve been meeting our friends at various parks all week.

Jack’s birthday party
On Sunday Lex’s friend Jack turned two, and we all went to his birthday party at Munchkin Playland.

The boys had a good time playing at the train table.

And there were cupcakes!

Big smiles for chocolate:

Father’s Day
This morning Tim unwrapped his present from Lex. It was a book entitled, “Geek Dad. Awesomely Geeky Projects and Activities for Dads and Kids to Share.” Tim said he can’t wait to try some of the suggestions in it.
Meanwhile Lex was very enthusiastic about giving his daddy a present. He kept cheering and saying, “Happy birthday daddy!” (Well, he almost got it right…)

Yesterday the guys made a chocolate cake together. Tim recently bought a new cookbook that uses almond flour instead of wheat flour (it’s apparently a bit healthier for you), and he wanted to try one of the recipes. His sous chef refused to wear any pants, but we let him assist in the kitchen anyway.

And in case you’re curious, the cake was delicious!
Comments are off for this postMonday at the park
Monday was our last day of semi-decent weather, so Lex and I headed to the park to take advantage of those remaining rays of sunshine.

And here’s Lex playing with his latest Goodwill acquisition. (He LOVES it!) Now if only the lawnmower really worked…
