Lex loves to doodle on any random scratch paper or envelope.  And he’s recently started holding his pen correctly:

I certainly don’t floss frequently enough, so if Lex wants to start now, more power to him!

Saturday soccer

Second day of soccer class, and Lex had a blast.  He’s a pretty good kicker, if I do say so myself!

Lex’s friend Samantha joined the class this week as well:

After soccer class we went out to lunch with Lex’s great Aunt Connie and great Aunt Carol, who were in town visiting.

Our mini garden

garden

I thought it would be fun to grow some of our own veggies this summer.  We’ve never attempted a garden before, so we’re starting off small with just some lettuce, spinach and onions in planter boxes.

In other news, we’ve apparently got a rodent problem.  This isn’t entirely surprising since our house backs to a green space, but Tim and I are still disturbed and grossed out every time we find mouse poop in our kitchen.  So today I called Alpha Ecological (pest control) and a man set out some bait stations in strategic places.  He also sealed a hole in one of our outside vents, which he was pretty sure was the main entry point for the mice.

Boise trip

May 14th, 2010 | Category: Lex

Whew!  May is just flying by so far.  Lex has seen both sets of his grandparents this month, which was a real treat for him.  My parents came to town for Aunt Winnie’s funeral, and after they left we drove to Boise to celebrate Mother’s day weekend with Tim’s family.  The seven+ hour drive was not pleasant either direction, but we survived the trip and had a good time while we were there.

Here’s some pictures from this year’s annual family potluck:

And of course, it wouldn’t be a Boise visit without homemade chocolate pie and whipped cream:
