California - the final chapter
While we were in CA, Lex and I went with Tobin and Zoe to their morning soccer classes. We couldn’t actually participate in the lessons, but Lex had a good time playing on the bleachers.

After soccer we took the kids to an Easter fair at a local park. Here they’re excitedly lined up waiting for their egg hunt to begin:

Lex finding chocolate eggs in the grass:

Amy and I both agreed that the Easter bunny at the fair was a little scary. And the kids weren’t too sure about her either:

two happy boys in matching shirts:

Amy and I hid plastic Easter eggs around her living room during the kids’ naptime on Saturday, and they had a great time finding them when they woke up.

the three cousins:

Lex was fascinated by Rocco. Meanwhile I nervously sat back and waited for Rocco to swipe at him (he’s not the nicest of cats!) But kudos to Rocco for keeping his cool during our visit.

Lex was very good on both plane rides. On the way home our plane experienced some turbulence when getting ready to land, and Lex just thought that was hysterical. Every time the plane bounced he would giggle and squeal and make all the rest of us laugh too. The flight attendant told me she should charge him extra for having so much fun on the ride.

California (part 1)
It’s been a whirlwind week, and I am exhausted. Lex and I had a lot of fun visiting Amy and her family in Alameda, but we ended up coming back a day early after Aunt Winnie suffered a heart attack (along with pneumonia) and was taken to the hospital. Amy flew back with us and we’ve been driving to Salem daily. Today Aunt Winnie was moved back to the manor and she is currently under hospice care. She’s very weak but is still pretty coherent at this point.
Anyways, here’s some of the pictures from our trip. Lex and his cousins were so cute together. They got along really well, and he already misses them.

not the best picture, but here’s the three cousins at the zoo:

This was Lex’s first official “adult-sized” corn dog, and he ate most of it!

I’ll continue to update the blog about Aunt Winnie and will let you know if anything changes. Right now she is very willing to go, but her 95 year old body is still holding on.
