It was gorgeous outside yesterday, so we took a family walk around the greenspace behind our house.  There were hundreds of ladybugs in the field.  They were everywhere!

I started reciting the old nursery rhyme, “Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home.”  But then I stopped as I remembered the rest: “Your house is on fire and your children are gone.”  What kind of thing is that to teach your young child?  What’s wrong with nursery rhymes anyway? Why do they all have to be about babies falling out of treetops, bridges collapsing, and houses burning?
