Aunt Winnie’s birthday party
Yesterday Aunt Winnie turned 95, so we drove to Salem and joined her for a celebration dinner. Â At the end of the meal we surprised her with a birthday cake. Â And everyone in the dining room sang to her, which was cool.

Lex enjoyed the cake:

You might have noticed Lex’s latest head wound in the pictures above. Â A few days ago he totally face-planted into the front door. Â He cried when it happened, but now it doesn’t phase him.

An afternoon at the park with Bear
Lex’s bear has to come everywhere with us. Â He’s quite well-traveled by now:

Realizing that Bear is Lex’s favorite companion, I decided to order an identical replacement bear recently just in case this one ever gets lost. Â But what I didn’t realize is how used and abused Mr. Bear already is. Â The replacement arrived a few days ago, so Tim and I slipped in the substitution one day just to see what Lex’s reaction would be. Â He grabbed the bear without looking, and then all of a sudden dropped it like a hot potato with a horrified look on his face. Â In order to cover our tracks we immediately mumbled something about “This is Brother Bear” and then quickly switched back to the original before any tears were shed. Â So hopefully we’ll hold on to the original, because apparently there’s no replacing Bear!
Comments are off for this postMellow weekend
We really didn’t do much to speak of over the weekend. Â But here’s a few shots anyway:

my beautiful Valentine’s Day flowers from Tim (planted them in the yard over the weekend):

The sun continues to shine and we’re loving every minute of it. Â We plan on hitting another park this afternoon. Â And this morning Lex and I drove over to north Portland to check out a new coffee shop which was having a special music time for kids. Â We also drove by our old house just for fun…looks the same!

The weather has been absolutely beautiful these past few days, and this afternoon Lex and I soaked up the sun while at the zoo.
Here’s Lex (and his bear) along with his friend Bailey (and her monkey):

Yes, he’s driving the zoo tractor again…

Lex, Sam, Clara and Bailey:

Hanging around:

“Why is Sam touching my cheek?”

Poor Lex…he’ll have to get used to the girls fawning over him.

Munchkin Sports
Lex has been taking a Munchkin Sports class through parks & rec for the past few weeks. Â It’s a cute class that exposes two and three year olds to a variety of different sports equipment. Â Sometimes the instructor tries to do a group activity, but as you can imagine, it’s hard to get a group of toddlers to follow any kind of set rules. Â So mainly the class is just set up for free play.

The goal here was to toss the balls through the cut-out holes:

But once Lex saw his instructor behind the board, he decided it would be more efficient to just hand the balls directly over to him.

Hand stamps at the end of class (a highlight!):
