Egg cetera
I’m constantly trying to find things that Lex will eat (his interest in food has completely disintegrated over the last month), so one afternoon I offered him a peeled hard-boiled egg. But instead of eating it, he carried it around the house like a new pet. And when he accidentally dropped the egg and it split open, he screamed “oh no!” and proceeded to carry around just the yolk for the next hour. (He did occasionally lick it, as pictured below.) Eventually it got sticky and gross and I had to throw it away.

And here’s my climber trying to adjust the window blinds one morning:

Lex loves the new pots and pans he got from his grandparents for Christmas, and he fills them with uncooked pasta:

And in this picture Tim is trying to get Lex to make peace with our singing/boxing Rocky Balboa. For some reason Lex is terrified of Rocky, and he won’t even set foot into the upstairs attic space where Rocky is stored.

Today was a rather rough day. Lex acted more like a typical two year old (I’m spoiled and not used to that). He alternated from being totally cheerful and happy to being whiny and clingy. And he hit me twice, which I’m not pleased about. I know he’s just testing out the waters, but days like this feel WAY too long. On a positive note, Lex does seem to be recovering from his cold. Tonight he went to sleep very easily and I didn’t even give him any cold medicine. (But poor Tim is still congested and worked from home again.)

I took this picture a few days ago as the sun was coming up. While I’m normally not grateful to be awake for EVERY sunrise (thanks Lex!), this one was spectacular and I was happy to witness it.

Since Tim’s dad can’t stand to be without a project of some sort (only kind of joking here!), we put him to work over Christmas break with some remodeling. He and Tim broke into our attic space in order to make toy storage shelves for our playroom. Here’s a picture of the initial hole:

And here’s the finished product: (the Weaver men do great work!)

Today I finally loaded the shelves with some toys:

And then Lex promptly started taking them all down again:

This year’s cold season has been brutal for us, and we’re currently going through yet another round of sickness. Lex has a runny nose and a cough, and now Tim has another sinus infection. Is it spring yet???

On Sunday we went to our friend Mia’s third birthday party.

Mmmm…Disney princess cake:

Taking a swing at the pinata (Lex gave it more of a gentle tap):

Not much else has been going on lately. Our Christmas decorations are down and put away (except for the lights outside…Lex loves them too much). Tim returned to work this week, and Lex and I have been filling our days with the usual play groups and classes. I’ve been suffering from some pretty severe insomnia these past few days, but I’m hoping that it’s temporary and I’ll get some good sleep soon.

Last week we were pleasantly surprised by one full afternoon of snow. Lex was too young to fully appreciate all the freak snowstorms we had last year, so this was a great opportunity to let him play in the white stuff.

Wendell and Shirley were here through New Year’s and then left for Boise on Saturday morning. It was fun having them here for the holidays, and we’re sorry that Lex gave his grandma his cold!

Tim and I joined the Bethany Athletic club over the weekend (along with every other person who made a New Year’s resolution), and this morning I took my first group fitness class. Lex got to play in the kid’s room, and he fared much better than I did. I am very much out of shape, and this class resembled army boot camp. Yikes! Hopefully I can manage to get out of bed in the morning…
