Playdate at the park

January 28th, 2010 | Category: Lex

We are sloooowly creeping back into the land of the living around here.  This past week has been absolutely  brutal!  I’ve had such a horrible sinus infection.  I haven’t been this sick since I suffered from mastitis long ago.  And Tim seems to have some sort of variation of my sickness, but his is more in his lungs (which is just perfect for an asthma sufferer).  He and I both went to the doctor and are now on antibiotics.  Unfortunately, whatever crud we are suffering from doesn’t seem to respond to antibiotics, so we’re just riding it out day by day.

Thankfully Lex’s ear infection seems to be over now.  He still has a lingering cough, but at least he has his energy and appetite back.

Today we ventured out of the house and went to the park with some friends from our play group.  I’m so happy to get back to our social activities.  We’ve had some very LONG days this past week.

Sorry, no picture today

Just a quick update - Lex has a raging ear infection in both ears and a horrible cough.  But he’s on antibiotics, so we’re hoping things improve soon.  I’ve got a major sinus infection and Tim is (hopefully) recovering from his sinus infection.  Things are definitely rough at the Weaver household currently!  We’re all just trying to hang on while we ride this out.

Sick yet again

January 20th, 2010 | Category: Lex

This picture describes our current situation better than I can in writing.  Poor Lex is sick AGAIN, and this time he has a fever to go with the usual cough and runny nose.  I am so tired of our house getting hit with one sickness after the next.  I know Lex’s immune system will be stronger because of all of this, but I’d really like a night of sleep.  Last night Tim and I traded off, but we were up about every 30 minutes trying to console our sick boy.

However, hot brownies make everything a bit more tolerable…

Random update

Lex is just like this little sponge right now, soaking up so many new words and mimicking everything that he sees.  He is very much a boy who knows what he wants, and his toddler mood swings continue to ebb and flow.  He’s still very clingy and wants to be carried more than he used to (he didn’t even want to walk when I took him to the zoo today).  But for the most part he remains a good-natured happy little kid.

On the day this picture was taken, we had hidden Lex’s stool in the garage because he kept purposely pouring water from the sink onto the kitchen floor.  But instead of being defeated, our resourceful son waited until we weren’t watching, and then dragged over one of the chairs from the island over to the sink and climbed right up.  (He knows he’s not supposed to stand on chairs…so he’s on his knees.)

And here’s just a cute picture of Lex and his bear:

We’re still not getting any good sleep around here at night.  (Wait for the shock…)  Lex and sleeping through the night seem to go together like oil and water.  Over the past few weeks he’s been waking up from what we think are nightmares.  He’ll just start sobbing and when we go into his room he’s sitting up and very sad.  So of course we console him and rock him, but unfortunately this happens multiple times a night.  I guess we’ll all get good sleep once he’s a teenager…

Playdate with Gabby

January 15th, 2010 | Category: Lex

Every morning when I make my bed (ok, maybe I don’t make the bed EVERY morning, but when I do…) Lex likes to be buried in a pillow pile at the head of the bed.  He slinks down and chuckles to himself and then suddenly pops out to surprise me.

The boy still has a water obsession, and will climb his stool whenever possible to play in the sink.  Unfortunately this time the sink was full of dirty dishes, so he had to do some rearranging.

Lex and I spent the afternoon at Loretta’s house.  The kids got a chance to play while Loretta and I chatted.  Lex worships Gabby and follows her everywhere.  (I had to remove him when he followed her into the bathroom and she shouted for some privacy.)  But she’s very kind to him and plays with him very patiently.

Gabby showed Lex how to hang the monkeys from the Barrel of Monkeys game on the buffet table:

Lex’s hair has been long and unruly lately, so I did take him to get it cut yesterday.  Well, to be honest, I first tried to cut it myself to save money, and THEN I took him to the salon to repair the chop job his mother gave him.  I think it looks really cute now, and it was actually good timing.  Twice today Lex has gotten his battery operated truck stuck in his hair (while the wheels were spinning), which then ripped out huge tufts of his hair.  If his hair was any longer, the incidents would have been even more dramatic and painful.  Tim and I are hoping that there won’t be a repeat performance.
