Catching up (part 2)
Various pictures from our Oklahoma trip:

My poor mom didn’t get home from the hospital until the night of our arrival. Â She was in bed for most of our visit, but here she’s out in the front room with Lex:

Playing drums in the church nursery:

A new splash park opened in Bartlesville this summer, and when we went we were the only ones there. Â We had a blast!

Playing on the helicopter at the local mall:

On Saturday night Lex stayed up late so we could visit Kiddie Park. Â It was his first time at an amusement park, and he just lit up when his car started moving. Â When the ride was over, he signed “more” and didn’t want to get out.

Riding the train at Kiddie Park:

More pictures to come…

I know, I know. Â The blog has been stuck on “Big Truck Day” for far too long. Â But since then we’ve seen both sets of Lex’s grandparents and have also been dealing with a very sick dog, so give me a break!
Tim’s parents graciously took care of our dogs while we took a family trip to Oklahoma, but they arrived a few days early so they could spend some time with Lex (oh, and Tim and me). Â Here’s some photos of their visit:

While here, Grandpa Weaver made Lex a “latches board” with all sorts of knobs and things to turn:

We also toured the Portland Street of Dreams with Tim’s parents. Â But this year was different because the luxury homes were condos in the Pearl District downtown:

After the tour we went out to eat. Â Lex drank some cold water and practiced his fish face:

Then we walked to Jamison Square to reward Lex for being such a good boy while we were out touring. Â He didn’t have a swimsuit, but that didn’t matter to him and he played in the water for quite a while:

Lex has a new infatuation with keys lately, and he’s constantly stealing mine to go “check the mail.” He can’t actually reach our box, but he loves to stick the key in random slots anyway.

And here’s another picture from when the Jerman kids stayed with us. Â That book happens to be Lex’s current favorite. Â It has tons of pictures of trucks, boats, trains, tractors, etc. Â So if you ever feel the need to know the difference between a combine harvester and a forklift, Â just ask Lex.

I’ll post the Oklahoma pictures in a separate blog entry. Â And for now, Kiwi is stable. Â She stopped eating while we were away, and she hasn’t eaten anything but a few bites of chicken in over a week. We’ve taken her to the vet three times now, and she’s been diagnosed with pancreatitis. Â The vet is hopeful that she’ll start recovering soon, so keep your fingers crossed. Â The poor girl has lost a lot of weight!

Our family went to Big Truck Day on Saturday, an event sponsored by the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District. Â There were tons of trucks and vehicles parked for the kids to explore and climb on. Â It was such a neat experience and didn’t cost a dime! Â Lex is in love with trucks currently, and this was like taking his favorite book and bringing it to life in front of him.

the Jermans invade Portland!
Yesterday my best friend from high school (Jackie Cox Jerman) and her family arrived in Portland for a brief visit before heading to the coast this morning. Â They spent the night at our house and it was so fun catching up again. Â We spent the afternoon at OMSI and then played and had dinner at Out of This World.

Lex and Jackie’s kids got along fabulously:

the fish tank at OMSI:

And of course Lex’s favorite OMSI exhibit was the water play station:

Later that night, Jackie’s daughter Tyler decided to join Lex for his nightly bath:

Mmmmm…breakfast casserole:

Lex found another victim to read him books:

Jackie and her family will also spend tomorrow night with us, on their way back home to Idaho. Â Should be another fun night!

Yesterday Lex and I went to a first birthday celebration for one of the little boys in our play group. Â Lex loves Munchkin Playland and he had a great time.

Lex and Juliette:

Lex and Colby (the birthday boy):

Hard at work in the kitchen:

And back at home, playing with homemade play dough: (this is a big accomplishment, because for a long time Lex didn’t even want to touch the stuff)

Enjoying a blueberry muffin (note that his clothes have been strategically removed by mommy):

I knew this day was coming, but it appears that Kiwi’s safe “perch” is no longer a toddler-free zone:
(and yes, Lex was told to get down from there immediately)
