Yay, it’s Friday!
Today was the first of a series of free summer concerts for kids held at the Bethany fountain near our house. A performer named Rich Glauber sang songs and played his guitar and accordion.

Lex seemed to enjoy the show. He clapped a lot. There was one particularly funny moment though. The singer was talking to the audience, and while everybody else was quiet, Lex yelled “BUS!” as loud as he could (and yes, a bus had just driven by the concert area). My son is very observant when it comes to noticing trucks and large vehicles.

Then this afternoon Tim got home from work early and we spent some time with Loretta and her family in their neighborhood pool.

All in all it was a good day

Family visit
Tim’s sister and her husband are in town visiting Becky and Ashley, and last night they came over for pizza. They got to see our new house, and more importantly, spend some quality time with Lex.
It was so funny to see Lex in action. He was a little shy when they first arrived, but within a few minutes he was showing off like crazy. Every toy was brought out and played with. Here he’s showing Wendy and Kevin his wagon:

And demonstrating his building block skills:

Lex loved playing with Becky’s bracelet:

As you can see, it was a fun night.

Happy 4th of July!

We had a lot of fun celebrating the 4th of July today. Loretta’s neighborhood had a huge all-day block party, and we attended several of the events with her family.
The first was a neighborhood parade, which lasted maybe 15 minutes. All the local kids decorated their bikes, and there were policemen and fire trucks, etc. This was the first time Lex actually paid attention to a parade, and he kept saying, “ooohhhh.” It was very cute.

Gabby decorated her bike and rode in the parade:

Not only is it America’s birthday today…it’s also Loretta’s. So Tim and I surprised her with a birthday cake at our bbq lunch.

The cake was fantastic. We baked a white cake and then covered it with whipped cream and fresh berries.

Keeping with the red, white and blue patriotic theme, the bottom layer of the cake had strawberries and there were blueberries in another layer.

After the neighborhood bbq, BJ the clown showed up to entertain all the kids.

Lex enjoyed the show:

And he clapped whenever anyone else clapped:

Eventually we headed home and now our tired boy is fast asleep. I’m sure we’ll all be in bed before any fireworks start tonight.
