Just another random collection of pictures…

Lex finally got his hands on his dad’s iPhone:

These next two were taken a few months ago, so Lex looks a little younger (and he only has two bottom teeth). But they were too cute to leave out:

Sunday visit to Salem
We hadn’t seen Aunt Winnie in a while, so last Sunday we made the trek to Salem and joined her for lunch at the manor. She’s doing amazingly well for being 94!

Lex made sure to get his little hand prints all over the windows in the dining room:

We had chocolate cheesecake for dessert, and Lex (who decided that the fork was slowing him down), went straight in with his fingers:

After lunch, Lex discovered how to turn on the water fountain in the lobby. We could hardly pull him away…

In other news, I’m slowly starting the process of weaning Lex. It’s been a week and a half and I’ve successfully eliminated the nursing sessions before both naps. Now he usually only nurses once before bed and once in the night.

Finally we’re having sunny spring weather! Today was the perfect day to be outside, so Lex and I joined Tim for a picnic lunch at a park over by his work.

New chair
Lex is so good-natured most of the time, but he does get a bit cranky and weepy around 4 pm every day. Usually I’m trying to make dinner as we’re waiting for Tim to come home from work, and Lex just wants to be held. So as a compromise, we bought him this new chair that attaches to our kitchen island. He can now be up at my level and can watch what I’m doing in the kitchen without me having to struggle to hold him for an hour. Yesterday was our first attempt at this, and he seemed to be pretty content.
Chair installation in the morning:

And here he’s stirring later that evening, “just like mommy”:

Ups and downs
Last night we took the big blue exercise ball into the bonus room and let Lex push it around for a while.

And here’s Lex getting ready to throw a tennis ball for Kiwi during their nightly game of fetch:

Lex loves to flip the light switch on and off. Here he’s climbing on his daddy so he can reach it:

And just to show you that Lex is a typical toddler who has emotional ups and downs on a regular basis, here’s a picture of him after his daddy told him it was time to quit playing with the light switch:

And here he’s pointing to the light switch to tell his daddy that he really really wants to go back and play with it some more. (Never fear, this moment of sadness was very temporary…)

Today Lex and I went to the Jantzen Beach mall for an afternoon outing. We had a great time riding the carousel and playing on all the coin-operated kid rides. Lex isn’t old enough to know that the rides actually move if you insert a quarter, so he just had fun climbing all over the motionless cars. We even hit the food court for ice cream before heading home. (Ok, Lex just got an empty sugar cone, but he thoroughly enjoyed it and was oblivious to the fact that mommy’s cone came with a scoop of ice cream.)
