Recovering…

March 14th, 2009 | Category: Lex

This week has been a rough one, since Lex and I are still trying to get over being sick.  He’s had a horrible cold that has kept him (and Tim and me) up many nights recently.  And I’ve been fighting a lingering sinus infection that is only now showing signs of improvement.  So we’ve all been a little housebound and stir-crazy.  Hopefully next week will be better…

But meanwhile, here’s a picture of happy Lex from a while ago:

Here are some photos from a few weeks ago when Lex and Tim installed a baby gate in the family room:

Update

March 11th, 2009 | Category: Lex

Ok, where to begin…

We couldn’t have survived this move without the help of Tim’s parents, so first I want to thank them again.  Everything went smoothly in the transition and we absolutely love our new house.  Living in the townhouse felt like “playing house.”  Everything was smaller and seemed so inconvenient.  Now we can dump our own garbage without taking a five-mile trek to a dumpster, and our dishwasher and washer/dryer are all full-size.  Because Lionsgate screwed us over so badly with our leasing agreement, we were understandably very cautious when it came time to hand back our townhouse keys.  We made sure every document was signed and photo-copied, and we left our place spotless for fear that they would keep our cleaning deposit.  (thankfully we just got a letter saying our refund is on its way)

Tim and I are still chuckling about our new life in “the burbs.”  We joke that “everything is better in Bethany.”  The sun always shines and even the garbage doesn’t stink.  (just kidding, but it is kind of like that…)  Instead of pit bulls, people now own poodles.  And instead of graffiti we now see neighborhood watch signs.  A few days ago Tim and I were sitting outside in our new hot tub and we just felt very lucky to be where we are now.

Meanwhile Lex is adjusting well to his new surroundings.  He now has many more rooms to explore, and he makes sure that we play in every one multiple times a day.  He loves the ceiling fans and will sit in a room and “chirp” with his hands raised upward until we turn the fan on.  Then he gets a huge grin and runs to the next room to repeat the process. He still doesn’t slow down for anything, and diaper changes continue to be a challenge.  Recently Tim and I found that if we sing to him (with hand motions), we can sometimes get him to lay down long enough for a complete change.  And usually after the rousing rendition of “Itsy Bitsy Spider” or the “Wheels on the Bus” Lex gives us an enthusiastic round of applause.

Last week and this week have been tough healthwise.  I recently came down with mastitis (a bacterial infection in my breast) and it hit me really hard.  I had a horrible fever with chills, and my breast pain was so severe that I couldn’t even hold Lex.  Luckily Tim was able to watch him for a few days while I recovered in bed.  And now Lex has the croup again.  I know exactly where and why he got it though.  A few days ago we met our friends Jenny and Ethan at the Children’s museum (not really exhibits - just play rooms and toys), and Lex put EVERYTHING in his mouth.  I mean everything!  He was sucking on shovel handles and licking puzzle parts and baby doll heads.  Totally gross.  But telling that child not to put something in his mouth is like telling him not to breathe, so I just rolled with it (knowing full well that some sort of sickness was in our future).  Anyways, here’s some pictures from that infamous visit: (Lex had a blast, by the way)

And we’re back!

March 10th, 2009 | Category: Lex

The Weaver household is back online!  Today we were visited by the Verizon fairy and we now have an actual working home phone number along with tv and internet.

I don’t have much time tonight to give a long report on what’s been going on, but here’s a glimpse of the Lexter to appease all of you photo-starved relatives.
