Just a quick update
No pictures today, sorry. The photo would have been of a pathetic red-eyed runny-nosed boy. Lex is definitely fighting some kind of bug. Today his nose wasn’t quite as runny as yesterday, but he felt warm like he had a fever. We just took it easy and let him rest as much as possible (although we had to be out of the house from 2-4 for our open house). Our realtor said that about five prospective buyers came through today. Not as many as last time, but it’s still encouraging.
Last night was kind of rough. Lex was obviously miserable, and Tim and I didn’t sleep either. This is all unfortunate timing, because we had just gotten Lex back on track this week with a semi-decent sleeping schedule. But all bets are off when you’re dealing with a sick baby. I don’t care what the books recommend…I’m going to comfort him as often as he needs it.

We think Lex has a cold. Today he woke up with a stuffy nose after his first nap, and it progressively got worse over the afternoon and evening. The poor guy has been sneezing and breathing out of his mouth. This is only his second cold in ten months, so he’s been amazingly healthy up until now. So far he’s still in good spirits, and he managed to eat the zwieback toast we gave him as part of his dinner.
Lex’s favorite game lately is “what can I pull off the coffee table?” He stands up against the table (with Tim’s help) and then attempts to eat whatever is up there.
This morning we babysat Gabby for a couple of hours as part of our babysitting coop. She’s really cute with Lex:
And here she’s swinging at the park:
Yesterday Lex and I met some friends at the zoo.
We got to see the new baby elephant that’s been in the news lately. So cute!
Jenny and Ethan came to the zoo on Friday as well. This was our last chance to see them before they moved. Very sad.

Just some pics from tonight’s bath:
I bought Lex a hand puppet wash cloth from the dollar store, and he really likes it.
Last night Tim and I had prepared ourselves to “let Lex work it out on his own” during some of his frequent night wakings. We were predicting that some tears would be shed. But instead Lex slept really well. We’re very thankful and hope that tonight is as good.
No commentsLex is eating!
In the last couple of days Lex has finally started eating some solid foods. The combination that got him going was fresh peaches mashed up and mixed with baby oatmeal and some breast milk. He did well enough yesterday and today that we decided to cancel the doctor’s appointment with the eating specialist. Hopefully he’ll just keep trying new things now.

No commentsJamison Square
Today we enjoyed one of the last warm days of summer by hanging out at the water feature at Jamison Square (downtown). As you can see, it’s a popular spot for kids and parents.
Lex loved playing in the water. It periodically sprays out of the rock, fills up the pool, and then empties again.
At the end of the afternoon we had a wet, tired (but happy) baby.
Our days are always fun, but our nights continue to be a bit of a challenge. A few nights ago Lex woke up every 2-3 hours, and Tim and I were wrecked the next day. So last night we had Tim go in alone for the first wake-up session (to convince Lex that he didn’t need to nurse). Our son was less than happy that mommy wasn’t coming through for him, but eventually he did settle back down. We’ll try that technique again tonight. Hopefully Lex will learn that it’s just not as fun to wake up so often.
