We’re back!
We’re now back in Portland after spending a week in Oklahoma. We had a great time catching up with relatives and we’d like to thank everyone who traveled a long distance to see our son baptized.
I think the cousins got a kick out of hanging out together. Here they’re all wearing their new t-shirts (bought by grandma) - “Bartlesville, Oklahoma - It’s not the end of the world, but you can see it from here.”
We went to the county fair in Dewey, OK, and Lex got a chance to sit on this mini tractor. The fair was so cute. Just a bunch of animals and crafts, and everyone seemed to win a blue ribbon.
Our plane left Oklahoma at 7 am this morning, which meant that we got up at 4 am (which was 2 am Oregon time). Yikes! We’re all looking forward to going to bed early tonight.
We flew with Amy and her kids for the first half of the trip. Tobin really wanted to hold Lex in his lap:
And here’s a beautiful shot of Mt. Hood (taken from Tim’s iPhone).
Teething, etc.
One night at dinner we gave Lex a teething biscuit. He had a good time with it. Here’s what he looked like afterwards (the clothes went straight into the wash):
On Sunday Lex stayed in the church nursery until his baptism. He played the xylophone while he was waiting:
Here’s Lex on the rock wall at the park. Get the climbing harness and ropes ready!

Tobin loves anything related to firefighting. Here he’s dressed in his new fireman costume:
And here he’s using his “fire hose” to water the flowers:

The teething continues, and Lex is still pretty miserable. His favorite activity is chewing on his Grandma Shirley’s purse strap. She was kind enough to loan it to him for the Oklahoma trip:

On Sunday Lex was baptized in church by his grandpa. He was very good during the ceremony and wanted to play in the baptism water. The gown Lex wore was knitted by my mother and has been worn by all the grandchildren.
Lex is actually cutting a tooth right now. It has broken the surface and is very sharp. He’s a bit more fragile these days, but who can blame him!

On Friday night we had a spaghetti dinner at mom and dad’s house. Both great-grandmas joined us:
Then later that night we went to Kiddie Park, an amusement park in Bartlesville that caters to toddlers. Tobin had a blast!
the three cousins:
Lex and Zoe weren’t as impressed by Kiddie Park:
But eventually Lex gave us a smile:
On Saturday we took group photos at the park. Here’s four generations on my mom’s side:

You should recognize us by now:
On Saturday night we had a group meal at the local bbq joint. Lex was bored, so as Amy was feeding Zoe I handed him the lid to her baby food jar. He immediately starting licking the turkey and gravy. So I gave him a few spoonfuls of the pureed turkey and he actually ate it! He really seemed to like it. Forget rice cereal…our son is a carnivore!
