Yesterday we had a bit of a scare, because the nurse from Capital Manor called us and said that Aunt Winnie had been taken by ambulance to the emergency room.  So we quickly headed to Salem.  It turns out that Aunt Winnie had been feeling too weak to walk herself to lunch, so she just sat on the floor of her apartment and pushed her emergency button.  At the hospital they discovered that her blood pressure was extremely elevated, so they kept her overnight for observation.  When we arrived we helped her get settled in her room and made sure she got something to eat, since by that time she’d been at the hospital for over five hours.

Lex did so well at the hospital.  He kept Aunt Winnie entertained by smiling at her, and he loved looking out her sixth floor window.  Every once in a while he squealed (LOUDLY) with joy and we had to remind him that we were in a hospital.  =)  We didn’t get him home and in bed until closer to 8 pm, but he was very acommodating to the day’s crazy schedule.

Today we’ll go back to Salem to get Aunt Winnie settled at the manor (assuming that she’ll be discharged).
