Babysitting

June 14th, 2008 | Category: Lex

Tim and I are in a “babysitting co-op” with two other couples who have young children.  Once a month the designated couple watches the other parents’ kids from 4-7 pm.  Tonight was our night to babysit.  Mia is on the left in yellow (daughter of Mindy & Joel) and Gabby is in the brown shirt (daughter of Loretta & Eric).  I think you all recognize the baby on my lap.  Our shift went amazingly well, and Lex was so stimulated by all of the action that he was able to stay happily awake the entire time.

Bubbles!

June 13th, 2008 | Category: Lex

Today was one of the first sunny days we’ve had in a long time, so we all spent some time outside.

Fun with bubbles

These last two pictures turned out a little blurry, but they were too cute to leave out:

(On a side note, we took Apple to the vet yesterday for a dental cleaning, and the poor girl ended up getting five teeth pulled.  Her two back molars are gone now, as well as three teeth up front.  She’s recovering nicely, although she might not be able to chew hard biscuits anymore.)

Walking the dog, talking on the phone, and keeping the baby awake until his bedtime…

Chunky Monkey

June 11th, 2008 | Category: Lex

Today was the first time that Lex has shown an actual preference for a certain toy.  These next few pictures show him playing with his star, dropping his star, and then wanting it back.  I tried to offer him a different toy as a replacement and he objected rather loudly.

This afternoon we went on a walk around the waterfront with our Wednesday play group.  When all the moms saw Lex they were surprised at how much he’s grown.  In fact, I think the phrase “chunky monkey” was used at one point.

(as you can tell, Lex is back to his smiley self today)

Come on, jump!

June 10th, 2008 | Category: Lex

These pictures were actually taken a week or so ago.  We recently bought Lex a doorway jumper.  So far he’s not too impressed.  He just stands there and looks at the dangling toys.  Right now we only put him in it for short periods of time.  Maybe he’ll enjoy it more later on.

Lex has been kind of a sad little boy today.  Not sure why…teething?, growing pains?, possible sickness?…

He’s just been fussier than usual, and he woke up sad and crying from most of his naps.  Today he dropped a toy and broke into tears, which was a first.  He usually doesn’t even care.
