Swimming
Yesterday we took Lex to his first swimming lesson. The class is for kids 6-18 mths old and is offered through Portland Parks and Rec. Basically the babies just get introduced to being in the water while all the parents sing songs and play games like the hokey pokey. I think Lex was the youngest one there, but he had a blast. He kicked and paddled and splashed and everyone said he was a “natural.” Tim and I had a great time as well.

No commentsAnd we’re back!
Our beach vacation was…a bit rough. Not quite the relaxing getaway that we had hoped for. It turns out that traveling with a baby and two dogs can be a little stressful! We also learned that sometimes craigslist pictures of vacation rentals can be a bit misleading. Our place was…how shall I say this…quaint(?) rugged(?) without a phone line of any kind(?) cold and crawling with ants(?) Less than desirable, to say the least. And Kiwi pulled a muscle while playing frisbee on the first day, so she was limping the entire time. And blind Apple didn’t really ever settle in her new surroundings. And Lex chose to wake up every two hours, every night we were there. Needless to say, by Friday we were ready to be home. We left Rockaway at 7:30 am and were home by 9 =)
But on a positve note, the weather was fantastic and the beach was not crowded at all…
(one of Lex’s tougher moments at the cabin…)

Tomorrow our little family is leaving for a mini-vacation to the beach. We’ve rented a beach house in Rockaway and will be there from Tuesday until Friday. So to all of our faithful blog readers - our blog will be neglected for the next few days. But stay tuned…we will return home with plenty of pictures of Lex on the beach to share with you all.

Today we celebrated Tim’s first Father’s Day. I cooked him breakfast and Lex gave him a mug with a cute picture of the two of them on it. The rest of the day was spent relaxing as a family.
This is just a cool picture of Lex that we took a few days ago.
