“Gee”
Some pictures of Lex with his toys:

Lex vocalizes certain sounds for about a week at a time. Previously he continually said “Guh,” but THIS week the favorite phrase is “Gee” (with a hard G). It’s very cute. Maybe next week we’ll change to a different letter of the alphabet. And he’s sleeping a bit better these days. The afternoon nap is still the hardest to obtain, but at night he tends to be in bed by 6:45 pm and usually wakes up once or twice to nurse before getting up at 7 am. Not bad at all!
I’m continuing to meet more friends from my Friday mom’s group. On Thursday a gal and I got together and we took our babies to the Mommy Matinee at McMenamin’s Kennedy School (we saw the movie Juno). That could definitely become a weekly tradition!
Today Lex made his first trip to Fred Meyer with me. I walked around the store with him in the Bjorn and he was fascinated by everything. All the colors and sights just blew his mind, and he was really good while I shopped.

I’ve posted two new videos here. One is Laura reading a book to Lex (requested by G’ma Weaver), and the other is fun on the play mat.

This morning our Wednesday play group met here at our house. There were only a few of us today, but we had a good time. Isabelle is on the left (in the pink) and Ayla is on the right.

Lex slept like a log last night, probably due to pure exhaustion. He didn’t make a peep for 12 hours, until seven this morning. Then he took a good hour and a half nap in the morning, and now is “down” for his afternoon nap. (He’s upstairs talking to himself in the crib…we’ll see how this goes…) But we’re all feeling better today so far.
No commentsTeething lasts HOW long?

Ummm…yes. These are some signs of teething from an article I read today. Our baby definitely fits in the “all of the above” category. It’s now 6:45 pm and we just put lil’ Lex to bed. Earlier than his usual bedtime, but we all needed a break. He didn’t sleep this afternoon, despite my best efforts. I feel as though I have done nothing today but try to get my son to nap. Attempting this “sleep training” during the same week as our house going on the market and the start of Lex’s hardcore teething may not have been the smartest idea we’ve ever had. I’ve never been a fan of the “cry it out” method (and am still not), but I am starting to see how parents can get to that point!
Anyways, here’s some cute pictures taken yesterday after a walk (that’s why Lex is still wearing his stocking cap).

To nap or not to nap…that is the question

Well, we’re all going through a rough patch here at the Weaver household. (The picture above was just taken during a good moment.) We think that Lex’s teething is really starting to kick in, and he’s drooling and chewing on things like a mad man. (Again note the picture above and how he’s desperately chewing on my finger through his bib.) He’s also rather cranky lately. For three days he wouldn’t even take an afternoon nap, despite our best attempts, so that led to some tough evenings. It took at least an hour and a half every evening to put him to bed for the night.
So now we’re doing some sleep training, and it’s taking its toll on all of us. We’re trying to get Lex to nap in his own crib (instead of our arms, the sling, the car seat, etc.). And last night he spent the night in his own nursery. This actually went remarkably well, although Tim and I missed having the little guy in our room. Naps during the day are still hit or miss. Mornings go pretty smoothly, but there can be some tears in the afternoon. And Lex cries too. I know that this will all get better with time…at least that’s what people keep telling us!
