So we found out that our new feeding plan is not exactly working as well as we’d hoped. Lex was weighed at the hospital after two days of strictly nursing, and he has lost an ounce. And I have lost a lot of sleep. Apparently he’s not quite ready to get off his bottles completely. I’m now going to try nursing him during the day and giving him bottles at night. Hopefully this will give Lex enough calories and also Tim can help me with the night shift again. On Monday Lex has an appointment with his pediatrician, so we’ll check his weight again then.

Lex has been quite the popular fellow lately. His aunt Wendy visited him recently from Spokane, our friend Steve came over the other day, and he met people from our Sunday care group at a brunch on New Year’s day.

(On a side note, Lex was weighed by our lactation nurse today at a consultation.  He now weighs 8 lbs 6 oz!  Lex and I are facing “breastfeeding bootcamp.”  Instead of supplementing with bottles, I’m only going to nurse him for the next few days.  On Friday we’ll weigh him again to make sure that he’s doing ok with that.)
