He’s Huge!
We took Lex to the pediatrician today for a checkup and of course everything was perfect. He is now 6 lbs 12 oz, up from his 5 lbs 3 oz two weeks ago. We knew he was getting big, but sheesh! The nurse that took us into the doctor’s waiting room forgot to put our paperwork on the door, so the doctor didn’t even know we were there. We waited just over an hour in the room before I opened the door and asked if they had forgotten us. They were very apologetic about the whole thing so we aren’t holding a grudge. Lex did so well for having to hang out that whole time. He was stripped down to just a diaper and wrapped in a blanket, but didn’t fuss much at all. Good kid!

Our first meal out
Today we actually took Lex out to Papa Haydn’s so we could have Sunday brunch there. He did great! He stayed in the sling the whole time because we are still cautious about exposing him to germs and crowds, and he took the liberty of napping while we ate. Then after our meal I picked out a Christmas tree at Fred Meyer while Tim and Lex stayed in the car.
We hung stockings on our hearth today. Lex is still waiting for his knitted one (no rush Grandma Jane), so we put up one of his real socks instead. Very cute…

Lex likes to help Tim with the blog…

Five Weeks Old
Lex was 5 weeks old yesterday, which brings him to just 3 weeks premature. Laura and I are still taking six hour shifts so that we can get some sleep, and it seems to be working very well. The only real problem is that we haven’t seen each other in a couple weeks.
I posted another video of a little outing we took to the Rose Garden with Lex and Kiwi. It was a beautiful day, but freezing. Forgive my shaky hand-held amateur videography. =) I’ll get better.
Today it’s snowing, but in true Oregon fashion it’s not sticking to the ground. I’m sure the news will be airing coverage of “Blizzard 2007″ soon.

So hungy.

Another milk coma.

Notice the similar hairline.

Comments are off for this postThe start of Christmas
Today we started putting up Christmas decorations. Laura put away all of the Halloween items and I cleaned out the gutters and put up the lights. Lex got to try out his new sling for the first time in the real world.

The instructions say not to fret if the baby fusses until he gets used to the sling. In fine Lex fashion he didn’t make a peep, just fell asleep.

Most of the clothes we have for him are still too big, but he’ll fit them soon.
