Lex is still doing great, but it’s an emotional roller coaster for Laura and I. One day he’ll down his entire bottle in no time and the next he takes 50 minutes and only gets 3/4. He ends up exhausted and the nurses talk of feeding tubes. It’s a lot for us to deal with, but Lex takes it all in stride.

He may get a feeding tube at the 11 am feeding, so we’ll probably just head home and let the nurse do her thing.

11 am

Since Lex had the feeding tube in, and there was no pressure to get the bottle down, Laura got to have a good nursing session.

8pm

Wahoo!  Lex gained more weight and is up to 3 lbs 15 oz which is 1 ounce more than his birth weight.  Even though he still had the feeding tube in we fed him via bottle and he drank the whole thing like a champ, and we had about 30 minutes of snuggle time.  His eyes were tracking back and forth between Laura’s face and mine as we took turns talking to him.  He certainly seemed to recognize who was talking and was very responsive.
